R&D Intern (Summer 2027)

Location: Munising, Michigan, United States; onsite at the Munising Mill. The internship starts in May 2027 and lasts more than 10 weeks.

What you will do

• Support R&D projects focused on process efficiency, cost savings, new business development, and technology advancement.
• Participate in daily research and development activities in a multifunctional mill environment.
• Work with scientists to identify paper properties and investigate quality issues in paper-based materials.
• Participate in new customer trials and report findings to leadership.
• Modify or create standard operating procedures with leadership.
• Complete project work assigned by R&D management.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a degree program focused on Paper Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or another engineering discipline.
• At least one full year of completed coursework; two full years are preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Ability to analyze information, synthesize and communicate findings, identify improvement opportunities, and collaborate in a team setting.
• High initiative, drive, and curiosity to learn and improve business processes.
