Materials and Chemistry Engineering Co-op (Spring 2027)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; onsite

What you will do

• Design and develop engineering solutions for challenging materials, chemistry, microsystems, and hardware problems.
• Implement experiments, test systems and components, perform technical analysis, and document results.
• Generate and present test reports with plots, tables, evaluation criteria, and conclusions based on collected data.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to build, test, and evaluate systems, hardware, components, and materials.
• Develop practical knowledge of engineering processes, equipment, facilities, and system interrelationships.
• Support quality procedures and the production of reliable engineering products.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate or graduate engineering program.
• Co-op students must be available to work full-time for six months.
• Availability may be adjusted based on the academic schedule and program duration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively and adapt to changing environments, risks, and vulnerabilities.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Nice to have

• Experience or interest in materials testing, chemistry research, engineering modeling, hardware assembly, or system testing.
• Exposure to LabVIEW, MATLAB, SolidWorks, COMSOL, ANSYS, Mentor Graphics, Python, or GitLab.
• Interest in interpreting data from DSC, DMA, TMA, Instron, TGA, GC-MS, FT-IR, NMR, and rheometry.
