Optics Technician (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Support optical system builds, upgrades, and research projects for quantum computers.
• Assemble optical, mechanical, and electrical sub-assemblies.
• Assist engineers, scientists, and senior technicians with quantum system logistics and assembly.
• Maintain a tidy and safe laboratory and workshop environment.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• Approximately three years of relevant industrial operations experience.
• Practical technical skills and experience in a comparable assembly environment.
• Experience following work instructions for advanced technical assembly tasks.
• Experience working with personal protective equipment in an assembly environment.
• Proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and effective collaboration in a technical team.

Nice to have

• Level 3 advanced modern apprenticeship in engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
• Experience with fibre optics, optics, electronics, or vacuum systems.
• Experience assembling high-precision or delicate parts, handling optics, and using lasers.
• Experience assembling and testing scientific instrumentation.
