Infield Service Technician (Drones)

Location: On-site in Gilching, Bavaria, Germany; regular domestic and international travel to customer sites is required.

What you will do

• Commission and support the installation of NEXUS droneport systems at customer locations.
• Perform functional testing, drone flight demonstrations, and operational training for end users.
• Provide in-field troubleshooting for hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and communications systems.
• Work with customers to collect feedback and improve system reliability and usability.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to escalate issues, test improvements, and suggest enhancements.
• Document installations, issues, resolutions, and field best practices.

Requirements

• Technical background in mechatronics, electronics, robotics, aviation technology, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with hardware and software systems, ideally in UAV, automotive, industrial equipment, or automation environments.
• Basic troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and software components.
• Ability to work independently and professionally in customer-facing roles, with strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel regularly, including internationally.
• English communication skills are required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with embedded systems, sensor technology, or communication protocols such as Ethernet, 4G/5G, GPS, UWB, or Silvus.
• Experience with drone flight operations, technical field deployments, or UAV-related service work.
