Backend Software Engineer (Java and Kotlin)

Location: Poland, within the European Union region; occasional visits to the Warsaw office for 1–2 days per quarter. A valid EU work permit is required.

What you will do

• Develop and enhance scalable backend services for a specialized automotive marketplace.
• Design and develop microservices and REST APIs supporting key customer journeys.
• Design new modules and improve existing platform components.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Analysts, and UX Designers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Maintain high standards of code quality, testing, maintainability, and engineering practices.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or OpenCode to support software delivery.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Kotlin.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, microservices architectures, backend services, and REST APIs.
• Ability to design new modules and improve existing systems.
• Strong focus on code quality, testing, maintainability, and engineering best practices.
• Ability to work effectively with Product, Data, and UX teams.
• Polish and English at B2 level; an EU work permit is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with MongoDB and Spring Data MongoDB.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• Basic frontend or mobile development knowledge, including Web, iOS, or Android.
• Experience applying GenAI within the software development lifecycle through structured workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations.
• Familiarity with agent-based workflows, automation patterns, and AI-augmented development.
