TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer (C#/.Net) (Software Systems Engineering): Developing and supporting enterprise .NET applications for the Department of Veterans Affairs with an accent on C# backend development, API integration, database engineering, and CI/CD delivery. Focus on designing reusable Agile building blocks, automating testing, optimizing application performance, and integrating cloud and containerization technologies.
Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will not be considered.
Salary: $85,389–$116,975 per year

What you will do
- Plan requirements, testing, integration, deployment, operation, maintenance, and technical support for software systems and subsystems.
- Develop and maintain .NET backend applications with C#, MVC, RESTful APIs, SQL Server, and Entity Framework.
- Build reusable software components within Agile development processes and participate in daily stand-ups.
- Implement automated testing, modularization, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Document software designs, data flows, modules, and technical solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and developers, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Strong experience with .NET Framework, .NET Core, C#, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
- At least five years of professional software development experience using .NET technologies, with experience delivering complex enterprise applications.
- Bachelor’s degree with eight or more years of experience, master’s degree with five or more years, or Ph.D. with three or more years in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) and pass the required government and background investigations.
- Experience with Azure or AWS, Git or TFS, unit testing frameworks, Visual Studio, Agile methodologies, IaC, web and API security, and application performance optimization.
Nice to have
- Experience with EDI X.12 medical claims, including 837, 834, and 277 transactions.
- Knowledge of microservices and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, ECS, and EKS.
