Payroll and HR Operations Manager (E-commerce)

Location: New York City-based hybrid role requiring in-person work in the NYC office three days per week

What you will do

• Own end-to-end multi-state payroll processing for corporate and distribution center employees, including timekeeping, pay changes, deductions, bonuses, terminations, and off-cycle payments.
• Ensure payroll compliance, manage reconciliations and year-end processing, support tax and benefit audits, and partner with Finance on general ledger and journal entries.
• Serve as the primary business owner and administrator for Rippling, optimizing HRIS and payroll workflows, permissions, reporting, automations, and employee lifecycle processes.
• Administer benefits and 401(k) programs, including enrollment, carrier and deduction feeds, vendor coordination, leave support, and benefits reporting.
• Build workforce reports, dashboards, SOPs, process maps, manager guides, employee resources, and training materials.
• Partner with HR, Finance, IT, Operations, Legal, managers, and business leaders to improve process accuracy, reduce manual work, and strengthen employee support.

Requirements

• Experience with multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax, wage and hour compliance, payroll reconciliation, and internal controls.
• Experience supporting corporate and hourly populations in e-commerce, retail, distribution, fulfillment, warehouse, manufacturing, or other multi-location environments.
• Experience with Rippling Payroll or comparable payroll and HR technology platforms.
• Experience with payroll implementations or conversions, payroll audits, 401(k) audits, open enrollment, benefits renewals, or compliance reporting.
• Experience developing payroll and HR SOPs, onboarding materials, manager toolkits, or internal knowledge resources.
• Strong skills in HR technology administration, workflow design, reporting, documentation, project management, confidentiality, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• CPP, FPC, SHRM-CP, PHR, CEBS, or related certification.
• Bilingual English and Spanish skills.
