Security Firmware Engineer

Location: Hybrid, local to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Salary: CAD 116,480–174,800 per year

What you will do

• Develop, review, document, and maintain product firmware in C, C++, and Rust.
• Design low-level firmware, embedded architectures, operating-system integrations, and device architectures with hardware and ASIC teams.
• Implement firmware based on internal and customer specifications.
• Perform unit and system testing, failure analysis, debugging, and validation of product issues.
• Work with stakeholders to convert product requirements into development and validation plans.
• Coordinate priorities and milestones across engineering teams within an Agile/Kanban development process.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software or firmware development experience in embedded systems using C, C++, or Rust.
• Experience developing embedded firmware for real-time operating systems with hardware and software interactions.
• Experience with compilers, debuggers, emulators, and firmware development toolchains.
• Strong written, presentation, communication, multitasking, and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role local to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience with SSDs, enterprise storage, or storage interface protocols such as SATA, SAS, PCIe, and NVMe.
• Experience applying cryptographic algorithms including SHA2/3, HMAC, KDF, ECC, RSA, or ML-DSA.
• Knowledge of SSD security protocols and techniques such as Opal, ESSC, and AES.
• Experience with continuous integration, continuous delivery, DevOps practices, unit testing, and code coverage.
• Experience with project planning, estimation, risk management, and customer requirements assessment.
