What you will do

  • Design, integrate, develop, and test software for space-based optical instruments, subsystems, and payloads on airborne and space platforms.
  • Derive and allocate software and firmware requirements from system architecture and maintain interface consistency across subsystems.
  • Develop technical budgets, system requirements, verification techniques, simulations, test methods, and data analyses.
  • Plan and execute software verification and validation activities, including test setup, dry runs, formal verification campaigns, and configuration checks.
  • Oversee software architecture, interfaces, mission assurance, compliance, technical risks, and requirements traceability.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners, participate in technical interchange meetings, support program management, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems, software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or another technical engineering discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program and ITAR requirements.
  • Active security clearance is required.
  • At least 8 years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry, including 3+ years supporting development projects and 2+ years in project or team leadership.
  • Systems engineering experience developing, testing, and integrating space or airborne instruments, plus experience with requirements management and workflow tools such as JAMA, DOORS, JIRA, or Cameo.
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards, regulations, practices, and technical documentation.

Nice to have

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Master’s or PhD in software or computer engineering.
  • EO/IR payload integration experience.
  • Experience with Cameo, MATLAB, Simulink, SDLC, software interfaces, and communications protocols.
  • Experience troubleshooting system-level issues and working independently on complex multidisciplinary projects.
