Lead AI Engineer (Biotech)

Location: Sleepy Hollow, New York, United States; onsite expectations apply to many roles.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of production-grade enterprise AI applications and LLM-powered systems.
• Build intelligent agents and autonomous systems with LangChain, LangGraph, Strands, CrewAI, MCP servers, tool use, planning, and memory patterns.
• Develop RAG and semantic search solutions using vector databases, with Milvus preferred.
• Administer the enterprise LLM gateway, including model routing, access controls, observability, rate limiting, and multi-model orchestration.
• Lead, mentor, and manage AI engineers while setting technical standards and conducting code reviews.
• Partner with business units, data scientists, clinical research teams, vendors, and senior leadership to deliver AI strategy and solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
• 7–10 years of progressive software and AI engineering experience, including at least 3 years as a technical lead or senior individual contributor.
• Expert-level Python development and production REST API experience with FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience with AI agents, MCP servers, LLM applications, RAG, vector databases, and LLM gateway platforms.
• Experience with AWS AI services and infrastructure, including SageMaker, Bedrock, EKS, Lambda, and S3; Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD experience are relevant.
• Required certification: AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty.

Nice to have

• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
