Sr. Electrical Integration Engineer - Diagnostics

Location: Foster City, California, United States; on-site

Base salary: $204,000–$280,000 per year, excluding RSUs, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, and any potential sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Own diagnostic deployment for current service fleets and successor vehicle platforms from requirements definition through fleet release.
• Improve diagnostic quality, fault isolation accuracy, and time-to-diagnose using field and fleet data.
• Maintain traceability across diagnostic requirements, implementation, test coverage, and in-fleet performance.
• Define service actions and repair procedures linked to diagnostic outcomes in partnership with service engineering and fleet operations.
• Develop prognostic and condition-monitoring features to identify vehicle and system issues before failure.
• Develop diagnostic health metrics, lead design and test reviews, and report gap closure to cross-functional and program leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Computer Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in vehicle or system diagnostics supporting a production or operating fleet.
• Experience improving diagnostic quality and fault isolation accuracy with measurable reductions in time-to-diagnose.
• Knowledge of CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, UDS/ISO 14229, OBD, and DTC management.
• Experience with fail-operational and fail-safe concepts and diagnostics under ISO 26262 or an equivalent functional safety standard.
• Hands-on ability to query and analyze large fleet datasets using Python, SQL, or equivalent tools, plus experience defining service and repair procedures.

Nice to have

• Experience with prognostics, predictive maintenance, or condition monitoring for vehicles or complex hardware fleets.
• Experience applying statistical or machine learning methods to fleet-scale fault and anomaly detection.
• Experience with over-the-air software and calibration deployment to vehicle fleets.
• Familiarity with Model-Based System Design processes.
