Tool & Die Machinist (Manufacturing)

Location: United States; nearest major market: Chicago. Occasional travel of less than 5% may be required.

Salary: $60,217–$90,325 annually, plus a performance-related bonus plan.

What you will do

• Review blueprints, sketches, models, and technical specifications to plan machining operations.
• Construct, modify, repair, and test tools and dies.
• Set up and operate conventional and CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
• Measure dimensions, alignments, clearances, and tolerances using calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Adjust tools and dies to meet specifications and troubleshoot equipment or production issues.
• Collaborate with Production and Engineering to support die setup and reduce setup time.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Machinist or toolmaker experience, a recognized apprenticeship, or technical certification.
• At least five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on experience.
• Ability to operate tool room equipment and follow SOPs, safety instructions, and OSHA standards.
• Ability to collect production and quality-control data accurately.
• Physical ability to lift and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Wire EDM, CNC mills, and grinders.
