Tool & Die Maker

Location: McKinney, Texas, United States; onsite. Relocation may be considered.

Salary: $25.29–$40.48 per hour.

What you will do

• Construct, repair, rebuild, restore, and maintain dies and prototypes.
• Select, dress, set up, and use grinding wheels for surface and form grinding; hand-grind, polish, and finish die components.
• Machine parts using lathes, mills, drill presses, and other tool-room equipment.
• Verify dimensions, clearances, alignment, and assembly using micrometers, thickness gauges, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.
• Troubleshoot die issues at the press, adjust die operation, and compare finished products with specifications.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive dies and tools experience.
• Knowledge of die functions, materials, machining concepts, assembly methods, and mathematics.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, communicate effectively, and collaborate with technicians, employees, and vendors.
• Ability to operate large equipment while standing for approximately 8–12 hours and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds with proper equipment.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent technical-school education is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with AutoCAD or CAD/CAM.
