Embedded Software Engineer II

Location: On-site in Ottawa, Canada; this role is not eligible for remote work.

What you will do

• Execute the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, design, algorithm development, implementation, integration, verification, and validation.
• Design and implement features for embedded platforms, including camera, SoC, sensor, chipset, and driver development.
• Coordinate with hardware, mechanical, product, software project engineering, and systems engineering teams.
• Participate in code reviews, estimation, planning, process improvement, and software compliance activities.
• Assist with recruiting and screening candidates and provide technical guidance to junior team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of technical experience across the software development lifecycle.
• High proficiency in C, C++, assembly languages, and real-time operating systems.
• In-depth knowledge of embedded systems and current knowledge of electronics components and systems.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, multitasking, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have

• Strong Linux experience and experience with video, audio, signal processing, or compression.
• Camera development and image signal processing experience.
• Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, JIRA, or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with Agile processes, static analysis tools, code coverage metrics, and unit test generation.
