Firmware Design Intern (C/C++)

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; onsite at the Ottawa Design Centre

Salary: CAD 26–28.5 per hour

What you will do

• Analyze product requirements and define firmware data structures, behaviors, and architecture.
• Develop algorithms and firmware modules for data communications and video products.
• Implement firmware in C, C++, and assembly using standard design patterns.
• Write firmware documentation and define module-level test cases.
• Build test automation to verify firmware functionality and troubleshoot issues.
• Work with development, design, and systems teams to ensure firmware and hardware interoperability.

Requirements

• Good understanding of real-time operating systems.
• Knowledge of embedded programming in C or C++ and Python.
• Ability to understand hardware block diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to troubleshoot, test, debug, and work independently or in a team.
• Student available for a 12–16-month internship, with a desired start date of May 2027.
