Firmware Engineer Intern (SerDes)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 32–43 per hour

What you will do

• Develop firmware for hirify.global SerDes IP.
• Develop and verify new firmware modules.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes and build scripts.
• Deliver module documentation, design specifications, and firmware source code.
• Perform debugging, hardware bring-up, and production firmware development.
• Collaborate with firmware, design, application, and SoC teams.

Requirements

• Be a third- or fourth-year Bachelor’s student or a Master’s student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of microcontrollers and embedded firmware design, development, and debugging.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience with CI/CD, such as Jenkins.
• Good technical communication and problem-solving skills.
• Eligibility to access export-controlled technology and software under applicable U.S. export control laws is required; an export license review may apply.

Nice to have

• Microcontroller programming experience.
• C/C++ programming experience in a bare-metal embedded environment.
• Chip design simulation and verification experience.
• Knowledge of SerDes technology and PCIe host interfaces.
• Knowledge of AI, machine learning, and LLMs.
