Software/Firmware Engineer Intern (Embedded Firmware)

Base pay: CAD 32–43 per hour

What you will do

• Develop firmware for hirify.global SerDes PHY IP.
• Develop and verify new embedded firmware modules.
• Debug firmware, support bring-up, and contribute to production firmware development.
• Develop CI/CD processes and maintain related build scripts.
• Deliver module documentation, design specifications, and firmware source code.
• Collaborate with firmware, design, application, and SoC teams.

Requirements

• Third- or fourth-year bachelor's student or master's student in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of microcontrollers and embedded firmware design, development, and debugging.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Good technical communication and problem-solving skills.
• Applicants must be eligible to access export-controlled technology under applicable U.S. export control regulations; an export license review may be required.

Nice to have

• Microcontroller programming experience.
• C/C++ programming in a bare-metal embedded environment.
• Chip design simulation and verification experience or knowledge.
• SerDes technology and PCIe host interface knowledge.
• Knowledge of AI, machine learning, and LLM technologies.
