TL;DR
Thermal Associate Engineer (Summer 2027) (Aerospace/Satellites): Designing, analyzing, building, and testing thermal systems for satellite hardware with an accent on thermal analysis, thermal solutions, and spacecraft integration. Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite work with satellite hardware

Salary: $1,925 per week

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates advanced high-orbit satellites and secure satellite communications networks from its headquarters in Northern California.

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, build, and test satellite hardware and software with the engineering team.
  • Support design trades balancing performance margins, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule.
  • Perform thermal analysis on propulsion components, batteries, high-powered electronics, RF components, mechanisms, and PCBs.
  • Design, evaluate, procure, and test heaters, heat pipes, thermal interface materials, and surface coatings.
  • Develop integration and assembly processes that preserve thermal design intent and collaborate on thermal hardware installation.
  • Plan and execute component- and spacecraft-level thermal vacuum testing and verification.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or an equivalent technical field.
  • Hands-on experience personally designing, building, and testing hardware from scratch.
  • Strong interest in hardware development and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent residency, or other protected individual status is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with CAD.
  • Experience with thermal analysis software such as ANSYS or Thermal Desktop.
  • Experience with electronics systems design and packaging.
  • Projects or internships related to aerospace.
