Thermal Engineer (Nuclear Microreactors)

hirify.global is a startup developing mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors, including the 1-megawatt Kaleidos reactor for reliable power at hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases.

What you will do

• Develop and execute thermal analyses and computational fluid dynamics to evaluate Kaleidos system design and performance.
• Document analysis results and communicate clear, actionable conclusions.
• Expand CFD capabilities, accuracy, and efficiency through methods and workflow development.
• Own the pipeline for generating analysis geometry from mechanical design CAD.
• Develop methods and calculations that support lower-fidelity thermal analysis and improve confidence in the results.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Graduation planned for December 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Independence in solving challenging engineering problems and the ability to proactively seek resources and ask questions.
• Ability to complete projects accurately and on time in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment.
• Prior internship experience is helpful but not required.
• The position is on-site in El Segundo, California. The role involves access to technology subject to U.S. export controls.
