Harness Design Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

Location: San Francisco, United States. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status required to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations.

Base hourly pay: $29 per hour.

What you will do

• Design flight and test harnessing for spacecraft.
• Create wiring diagrams, block diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.
• Define interfaces between spacecraft subsystems with cross-functional teams.
• Route harnessing in 3D using CAD programs.
• Select design components based on voltage, power, frequency, and data-rate requirements.
• Work with production to fabricate cables in-house.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in mechatronics, electrical engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• Interest in learning about and designing spacecraft systems and subsystems.
• Familiarity with power and data transmission concepts.
• Eligible to work on U.S. Government-regulated space technology as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or other protected individual.

Nice to have

• Experience with Zuken or other harness design software.
• Experience with MIL circular, D-Sub, and microD connectors and different wire types.
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks.
