VP, Foundry Operations (Battery Manufacturing)

Location: Alameda, California, United States; onsite

Starting base pay: $234,000–$308,000 per year, with additional benefits, perks, and equity potentially included in the total rewards package.

What you will do

• Define and execute the foundry operations strategy from pilot production through multi-GWh battery cell manufacturing.
• Lead site selection, facility delivery, clean and dry room design, infrastructure planning, equipment specification, and plant construction activities.
• Direct equipment procurement, line layouts, vendor selection, design reviews, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and operational handover.
• Build and lead teams across process engineering, equipment, facilities, quality, automation, and plant operations.
• Partner with Product, R&D, and Commercial leadership to translate cell requirements into scalable manufacturing processes and capacity roadmaps.
• Establish operating systems focused on KPI management, quality gates, statistical process control, OEE, yield, cost per kWh, continuous improvement, and safety.

Requirements

• 15+ years of leadership experience in operations, manufacturing, or engineering, including 5+ years at Director level or above.
• Proven experience scaling complex hardware or battery cell production from pilot lines to giga-scale serial production.
• Experience with battery manufacturing processes including dry and clean rooms, electrode processing, cell assembly, electrolyte filling, formation, aging, and validation testing.
• Experience overseeing large capital programs with budgets of $100M+ and managing international equipment suppliers across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
• Demonstrated success building and retaining multisite engineering and operations organizations in high-growth or pre-IPO environments.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field; an advanced degree is preferred.

• Ph.D. or another advanced technical degree.
• Hands-on experience with automotive-quality manufacturing systems and battery cell process blocks.
