Senior Software Engineer (AWS)

Location: Must be based in Chicago, Illinois. Relocation assistance is not available. Visa sponsorship is available.

Salary: $112,710–$183,140 per year.

What you will do

• Design and develop backend RESTful API web services using microservices architecture.
• Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of a digital platform hosted on AWS.
• Lead development of new functionality and applications on cross-functional Agile project teams.
• Identify and resolve complex application and technical problems.
• Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and provide technical leadership to development and support groups.
• Establish software quality practices and maintain application, operations, and user documentation.

Requirements

• Experience producing software products or systems in line with product requirements.
• Knowledge of software product design and architecture, with the ability to translate market requirements into software designs.
• Strong decision-making, critical-thinking, and communication skills.
• Experience with Java 17 or higher and Spring Boot RESTful API development.
• Experience deploying and maintaining software on public clouds such as AWS or Azure.

Nice to have

• Experience with message streaming technologies such as AWS Kinesis, AWS SQS, AWS SNS, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Apache ActiveMQ, or Azure Event Hub.
• Experience with datastores such as AWS Aurora, AWS RDS, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GoCD.
• Experience working within an Agile framework, ideally Scrum.
