TL;DR
Manager, Lease Accounting (ASC 842/U.S. GAAP): Leading lease accounting operations for a multi-brand restaurant company's real estate portfolio with an accent on month-end close, lease reporting, payment and billing accuracy, and SOX compliance. Focus on applying complex lease accounting guidance, integrating lease and financial systems, driving automation, and developing a team of accounting professionals.
Location: Atlanta Support Center, United States; onsite 4 days per week

What you will do
- Lead lease accounting operations, including accounting, reporting, payments, and billings for the real estate portfolio.
- Manage monthly and quarterly close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, reporting, and disclosures.
- Oversee fixed and variable rent, CAM, property taxes, sublease income, lease liabilities, and percentage rent calculations.
- Provide technical guidance on lease classifications, modifications, remeasurements, impairments, and terminations under ASC 842.
- Partner with FP&A, Real Estate, Lease Administration, Financial Systems, IT, Legal, and Treasury on forecasting, systems integration, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.
- Lead process improvements, automation, system enhancements, data quality efforts, audits, and finance transformation initiatives while developing the lease accounting team.
Requirements
- Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience with significant exposure to lease accounting, real estate accounting, or retail/franchise environments.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 842 and U.S. GAAP.
- Experience leading teams and managing accounting operations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical accounting matters to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Nice to have
- CPA certification.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud, CoStar, or similar ERP and lease administration systems.
