Vice President, Talent Strategy

Location: Hybrid role requiring at least 3 days per week in the Washington, D.C. office; candidates must reside in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia.

Salary: $243,000–$290,000 USD annually, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Serve as the executive liaison and trusted advisor to journalists, hosts, and creative contributors.
• Build a diverse talent pipeline across broadcast, podcasting, newsletters, social platforms, and independent journalism.
• Coordinate relationships among talent, agents, managers, attorneys, and internal executive teams.
• Lead contract renewals, compensation structures, intellectual property rights, and other talent agreement negotiations.
• Align recruitment, onboarding, and creator partnerships with editorial standards, journalistic ethics, and hirify.global’s public service mission.
• Analyze audience trends and identify future talent needs across video, episodic audio, and experiential storytelling.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive executive experience in talent management, talent relations, media recruiting, or creative talent strategy.
• An active professional network across journalism, podcasting, digital media, talent agencies, management firms, and independent storytelling.
• Experience structuring and negotiating complex, multi-party talent contracts, intellectual property rights, and compensation agreements.
• Experience building diverse talent rosters and mediating high-stakes creative, interpersonal, contractual, or operational matters.
• Strong relationship-building, negotiation, strategic collaboration, crisis management, discretion, and confidentiality skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media studies, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with public service, nohirify.globalofit, or federated media networks and union collective bargaining agreements such as SAG-AFTRA.
• Experience with creator-led co-productions, live podcast tours, or multi-platform distribution partnerships.
• Familiarity with digital audio monetization, sponsorship frameworks, and multi-market station networks.
