Client Office Phlebotomist (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at two client sites in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago and in Evanston, Illinois, United States. Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with shifts alternating between Evanston and Chicago.

Salary: $19.81–$26.74 per hour

What you will do

• Perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, and other laboratory specimen collections.
• Process, label, centrifuge, aliquot, freeze, package, and transport specimens while maintaining sample stability and integrity.
• Review physician orders and enter laboratory test orders accurately in multiple systems.
• Verify test result receipt, maintain manifests, retrieve patient information, and perform laboratory reception and clerical duties.
• Monitor refrigerator temperatures and quality records, maintain equipment, and report problems or corrective actions.
• Communicate with patients, laboratory staff, and physicians while supporting patient safety and effective teamwork.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization, training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution, at least one year of healthcare phlebotomy experience, or CMA certification.
• Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the assigned Chicago and Evanston sites.
• Ability to perform specimen processing, operate relevant laboratory equipment, and follow safety, biohazard, regulatory, and accreditation procedures.
• Strong patient communication, customer service, critical-thinking, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with a broad range of patient types.
• Experience processing and transferring specimens and operating a centrifuge.
• Familiarity with medical EMR systems and medical terminology.
