Emergency Service Technician (Healthcare)

Location: Tufts Medical Center; onsite hospital role

Salary: $21.53–$26.91 based on full-time equivalent

What you will do

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a professional nurse.
• Collect specimens, perform phlebotomy, prepare laboratory samples, and complete point-of-care testing.
• Perform 12-lead EKGs, connect monitoring equipment, assist with wound care and other emergency procedures.
• Prepare rooms and equipment for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Transport and monitor patients while maintaining safety, comfort, dignity, and patient belongings.
• Coordinate patient-flow information, answer calls, relay messages, and communicate status changes to nursing and medical staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Must successfully complete phlebotomy competency training within three months.
• Ability to read, write, and understand medical terminology.
• Strong interpersonal, telephone, written communication, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift 30–35 pounds, turn patients, and stand and walk for extended periods.

Nice to have

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant certification.
• Emergency Medical Technician or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician certification.
• Completion of nursing fundamentals in an accredited nursing program.
• One year of related nursing assistant or patient care experience.
• Two years of healthcare experience, preferably in an acute-care setting.
