Backend Engineer (Go)

Location: New York City, on-site every day

Base salary: $185,000–$245,000 per year, plus equity

hirify.global operates a real-time safety platform that detects, verifies, and distributes incident information and live video to consumers, cities, hospitals, campuses, and private security.

What you will do

• Own core parts of the real-time pipeline, including ingestion, detection, verification, geolocation, and distribution to millions of devices.
• Build and operate live video infrastructure using phone ingestion, restreaming, and Mux delivery.
• Put AI models and agents into production workflows with evaluation, provenance, guardrails, fallbacks, and audited deployment stages.
• Develop backend services for ProtectOS, Regulator, enterprise consoles, public APIs, MCP access, and partner integrations.
• Run Go and Python services on Kubernetes in Google Cloud with Pub/Sub, MySQL, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and observability tooling.
• Drive initiatives end to end, measure latency, correctness, reliability, and cost, and participate in the rotational on-call program.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating backend systems at consumer scale, especially real-time or event-driven services.
• Fluency in Go and comfort with Python for ML and data pipelines.
• Experience with Kubernetes, modern cloud infrastructure, message queues, relational and analytical databases, and observability.
• Experience carrying a pager for production systems and responding to urgent incidents.
• Production experience with ML models or LLMs, including evaluation, fallbacks, and auditability.
• Willingness to work in the New York City office every day and participate in 24/7 rotational on-call coverage.

Nice to have

• Experience with live video or streaming infrastructure.
• Experience using AI agents to write, review, test, and operate production code.
