Fraud Investigator I (Fintech)

Location: US-Remote; compensation varies by New York City, Remote Premium, and Remote Standard tiers.

Salary: $56,000–$84,000 annually, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Investigate suspicious activity and identify fraud risk using Castle, Amplitude, Metabase, and established playbooks.
• Monitor real-time fraud queues and mitigate high-risk transactions within defined SLAs.
• Document investigative findings in clear summaries supporting suspicious activity reporting and audit requirements.
• Escalate complex cases to L2 Investigators and Team Leads and collaborate on emerging fraud trends.
• Apply fraud policies and regulatory requirements while providing feedback on process gaps and system inefficiencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in operations, fraud investigation, accounting, or finance.
• Strong Excel and/or SQL skills.
• Banking or fintech experience.
• Curiosity and problem-solving ability in ambiguous environments, with ownership of assigned investigations.
• Must be based in the United States for the US-Remote role.
