Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Fully remote from an employee's residence; occasional travel is required, primarily within the United States. The listed company location is Orlando, Florida.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable, performant, secure, and highly available digital systems.
• Develop clean, modular, maintainable code with unit and integration test coverage.
• Translate technical strategy into engineering tasks and contribute to architecture and design decisions.
• Identify bottlenecks, reduce technical debt, and improve developer experience and system performance.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle, including code reviews and pair programming.
• Use monitoring, metrics, and logging to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including recent work with Ruby on Rails, Node, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• 3+ years working with relational and NoSQL databases such as MySQL and MongoDB.
• Experience with cloud environments, cloud-native architectures, service-oriented or microservices architectures, and design patterns.
• Experience with caching technologies, preferably Redis, background processing with Sidekiq, and API development using REST or GraphQL.
• Experience with frontend frameworks such as Vue, Vuetify, or Angular, as well as unit and integration testing.
• Ability to work remotely from an employee's residence and travel occasionally, primarily within the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools or AI/ML product integrations.
• Experience with Raspberry Pi, iOS or Android applications, and high-availability, high-traffic production systems.
• Experience with entertainment, cinema, point-of-sale, ticketing, inventory, order management, CRM, loyalty, membership, or payment systems.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, observability, EMV, or card-reader integrations.
