Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op (MedTech)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; hands-on work in a regulated manufacturing environment. Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. is required, and employment visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Salary: $27.00–$61.00 per hour, depending on program year, discipline, degree, and experience.

What you will do

• Support the development, optimization, validation, and continuous improvement of ophthalmic medical device manufacturing processes.
• Analyze production data, investigate yield and quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with equipment qualification, process characterization, manufacturing automation, data acquisition, and process monitoring.
• Design and improve mechanical parts, tooling, fixtures, assembly equipment, electrical systems, and test systems.
• Create and update CAD models, engineering drawings, manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Supplier Quality, Facilities, and Operations teams and present findings to engineering leadership.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Enrollment in an accredited university program and return to school after the co-op assignment.
• Ability to work full-time during the co-op assignment.
• Permanent U.S. work authorization is required; candidates must not require current or future H-1B, green card, or other employment visa sponsorship.
• Analytical, troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and project management skills, with attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Nice to have

• Experience with engineering projects, design teams, laboratories, or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems, automation, manufacturing processes, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, Altium, OrCAD, Excel, Minitab, JMP, Python, or MATLAB.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
