Formulation/Process Senior Scientist (LNP)

Location: Beerse, Antwerp, Belgium; onsite

Base pay: €72,500–€115,230 per year

What you will do

• Develop and optimize parenteral and liquid drug product formulations and processes, with a primary focus on LNP and targeted LNP systems for RNA and other advanced therapeutics.
• Develop LNP manufacturing processes covering nanoparticle formation, tangential flow filtration, conjugation, sterile filtration, and fill-finish considerations.
• Conduct hands-on laboratory experiments and document results in electronic laboratory notebooks and technical reports.
• Provide technical leadership for scale-up, technology transfer, clinical manufacturing, regulatory submissions, patent applications, and related documentation.
• Collaborate with RNA drug substance, protein, chemistry, process engineering, analytical development, pharmaceutical sciences, supply teams, CDMOs, academic partners, and other external organizations.
• Evaluate scientific literature and emerging manufacturing and drug delivery technologies and translate findings into patient-focused development solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical or Chemical Engineering or Biochemistry with 6 years of experience, Master’s degree with 4 years of experience, or PhD with 2 years of experience.
• Hands-on experience in parenteral or liquid formulation and process development for LNP and/or targeted LNP systems delivering RNA or other advanced therapeutics.
• Ability to perform accurate and safe laboratory experiments in a modern laboratory environment.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, scientific curiosity, innovation, accountability, and adaptability.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, external partners, academic networks, and CDMOs.
• Ability to work onsite in Beerse, Belgium.

Nice to have

• Expertise in LNP characterization, scale-up, and manufacturing technologies.
• Experience with microfluidic or mixing technologies, TFF process development, and conjugation technologies for targeted delivery.
• Background in liposomes, biodegradable microspheres, nanosuspensions, injectable biodegradable rods, or in-situ gels.
