Patient Care Tech-Neuro Spine Surgery 10S Part-time Days

Location: 251 E. Huron, Chicago, IL; onsite, part-time day shift

Salary: USD 24.26 per hour

What you will do

• Support registered nurses with direct and indirect patient care activities in the neuro spine surgery unit.
• Monitor and document vital signs, intake and output, blood glucose, cardiac activity, oxygenation, and patient observations.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, mobility, hygiene, nutrition, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and patient transportation.
• Provide pre- and post-operative support, position patients safely, apply dressings and equipment, and assist with procedures.
• Respond to call lights and emergencies, initiate basic life support, and promptly report changes in patient condition.
• Maintain room readiness, equipment, supplies, documentation, inventories, quality checks, and a clean and safe care environment.

Requirements

• CNA certification or current enrollment in a school of nursing with completed basic clinical rotations.
• American Heart Association CPR recognition, BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• High school diploma required; one year of college, nursing education, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Unit-based recognition for capillary blood glucose monitoring and at least 90% on annual Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Previous healthcare experience and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, nursing staff, and medical staff preferred.
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
