Senior Process Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Benson, North Carolina; initially Durham, North Carolina, with regular onsite production-floor presence. The role includes less than 5% travel for equipment development reviews and Factory Acceptance Tests. Candidates must be U.S. Persons with access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

What you will do

• Support the full lifecycle of a large manufacturing facility expansion, from design and equipment specification through installation, commissioning, startup, and scale-up.
• Translate pilot-line processes into stable, repeatable, high-volume production systems and own process parameter definition.
• Run engineering trials and optimize equipment recipes, operating windows, yield, throughput, scrap, OEE, and station cycle times.
• Lead Gage R&R, capability, Cpk, PFMEA, risk assessment, ergonomic assessment, and process control activities.
• Provide hands-on production startup support, troubleshoot station-level defects, and identify root causes in machinery and process settings.
• Develop and manage process flows, BOPs, SOPs, work instructions, control plans, quality checklists, calibration procedures, monitoring plans, HMI logic inputs, and MES transaction lists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 5+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Deep expertise in Design of Experiments, Gage R&R studies, and statistical process control for high-precision manufacturing.
• Expert-level experience developing PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions, process flows, and other manufacturing documentation.
• Experience designing and running on-floor production trials to optimize complex equipment parameters.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
• Must be able to work regularly on the production floor, climb stairs, stand and walk for extended periods, work in hot, humid, or noisy environments, and use required PPE including respirators.

Nice to have

• Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, metallurgy, magnetics, or chemical processing.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with MES implementation and automated transaction mapping.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, or other highly regulated industries.
