Senior Engineering Manager (Android & Device Platforms)

Location: Remote – United States; travel required 2–4 times per year

Base salary: $154,200–$212,200 per year

What you will do

• Own engineering outcomes across field operations tooling, exam-room technology, waiting-room displays, and back-office systems.
• Manage senior Engineering Leads and individual contributors, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and career development.
• Remain hands-on through code reviews, implementation, architecture planning, troubleshooting, and technical direction.
• Coordinate priorities and dependencies across three or more concurrent product areas with different technologies and team maturity levels.
• Lead AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices, including AI-powered capabilities such as automated device diagnostics.
• Partner with Product, Design, Architecture, and engineering leadership on delivery, architecture decisions, staffing, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading engineers or engineering teams.
• Recent hands-on technical experience with production code, pull-request reviews, implementation design, architecture, or software troubleshooting; a coding assessment is part of the interview process.
• Current native Android development experience with Kotlin and Java, including AOSP, customized Android ROMs, rooted or kiosk-mode devices, APK distribution, or Android OS upgrade programs.
• Experience with connected or remotely deployed device fleets, including staged releases, fleet monitoring, remote troubleshooting, updates, rollbacks, and hardware or OS constraints.
• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript, React, backend or serverless systems, cloud APIs, and device-platform technologies.
• Experience managing blended teams of full-time employees and contractors, with strong communication, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with BrightSign, SignageOS, Broadsign, or other digital signage and device-management platforms.
• Experience with AWS IoT Core, MQTT, Device Shadow, BLE, GATT, Jetpack Compose, or Kotlin Multiplatform.
• Experience with AWS Bedrock AgentCore, MCP-based tool access, Strands Agents, or other agent-orchestration approaches.
• Experience with architecture governance, DORA metrics, application security, vulnerability management, regulated industries, or healthcare.
