Principal Software Engineer – Android

Location: Skaneateles, New York, United States; hybrid workplace with a required minimum number of onsite days per week

Salary: $120,000–$165,000 annually

What you will do

• Define and evolve shared Android platform architecture using Kotlin services, dependency injection, WebView and JavaScript bridge patterns, messaging, networking, and reusable libraries.
• Design common capabilities for authentication, clinical data and patient workflows, foreground services, camera and machine-learning integrations, local networking, and secure peripheral connectivity.
• Partner with product engineering teams to define requirements, platform contracts, versioning, guidance, and release-train alignment.
• Set coding and design standards, lead reviews, and improve unit, instrumentation, automated testing, static analysis, CI/CD, and release practices.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and collaborate with systems, hardware, clinical, and product partners on multi-product platform decisions.
• Maintain architecture, design, and test documentation for regulated development and sustaining engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including extensive Android application development.
• Proven leadership in architecture and development for complex mobile platforms, shared services, or multi-product ecosystems.
• Strong Kotlin and modern Android expertise, including networking, dependency injection, multithreading or coroutines, APIs, and CI/CD.
• Experience building reusable mobile SDKs, libraries, platform services, and scalable application architectures, with hands-on integration of cameras, connected devices, embedded services, or hybrid mobile/web applications.
• Applicants must already be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
