TL;DR
Calibration Engineer - Thermal (Automotive/EV Thermal Calibration): Developing and optimizing thermal calibrations for BEV3/BET electric vehicle programs with an accent on controls development, in-vehicle testing, and empirical data analysis. Focus on creating calibration verification tools, diagnosing vehicle and controls deficiencies, and coordinating calibration activities across technical and program teams.

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan; attendance at the Milford site at least three times per week is required. The role requires less than 25% travel. Relocation benefits are available to eligible candidates under company policy.

What you will do

  • Develop and optimize thermal calibrations for selected BEV3/BET electric vehicle programs.
  • Create analytical and RLM tools to develop and verify calibrations, including scripting and empirical data analysis.
  • Support virtual calibration development and execution, program issue resolution, and vehicle testing.
  • Diagnose and correct vehicle, system, and controls deficiencies, including electrical-system troubleshooting.
  • Plan and coordinate calibration activities with calibrators, the Lead Calibrator, and the Diagnostic Strategist.
  • Coordinate calibration resources and participate in development trips and related test activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience in software or controls development, calibration, verification, or validation.
  • Experience with in-vehicle testing, electrical-system troubleshooting, data acquisition, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with local and global teams.
  • Strong communication, time management, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to report to the Milford, Michigan site at least three times per week and travel less than 25%.

Nice to have

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering or at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing control-system calibrations.
  • Experience with INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar data-acquisition tools.
  • Scripting experience with Visual Basic, C, C++, or Python.
  • Knowledge of the bevHEAT thermal system.
