Senior Data Engineer (Azure)

Location: Hybrid, Utrecht, Netherlands. Candidates must already be located in the Netherlands; relocation is not possible.

Salary: €5,030–€7,183 gross per month for a 36-hour work week.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data products and BI solutions for financial crime compliance insights, reporting, and decision-making.
• Build and improve data pipelines and solutions using Azure, Databricks, Python, Spark, SQL, and Power BI.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, maintainability, governance, and engineering standards across the squad’s data landscape.
• Review solution designs, coach engineers, and mentor team members on data modeling, code quality, and engineering practices.
• Collaborate with financial crime compliance specialists, business stakeholders, data management, and engineering colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in data engineering and BI development, preferably in the Azure ecosystem.
• Experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Airflow, YAML, data modeling, data lakehouses, and ETL processes.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, plus knowledge of Power BI report building.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git-based CI/CD practices, scripting deployment workflows, and Agile/Scrum delivery.
• Must be located in the Netherlands; relocation is not possible.
