Head of Design, Product Design (Digital Assets)

Location: Full-time onsite at the Palo Alto office in Palo Alto, California, United States

Base salary: $210,000–$250,000 USD annually, plus equity and an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a small, senior, self-sufficient product design team while continuing hands-on individual contributor work.
• Own retail mobile product surfaces from discovery through specifications, reviews, and delivery.
• Build and govern the design system and component library, including tokens, patterns, contribution models, and adoption across product teams.
• Represent design in product strategy, roadmap, architecture, and client discussions, partnering early with product and engineering.
• Establish critique, documentation, design review, and engineering handoff practices that maintain quality and support AI-assisted work.
• Apply systems thinking across shared primitives such as accounts, wallets, assets, and approvals.

Requirements

• Experience leading design in financial services; digital assets or another domain with complex technical flows is strongly preferred.
• Experience building and owning a design system at scale.
• Current hands-on proficiency in Figma and strong product, UX, and craft expertise.
• Experience managing designers, developing their capabilities, and providing specific, direct feedback.
• Technical literacy, including comfort with APIs, data models, engineering constraints, and trade-offs.
• Ability to work full-time onsite at the Palo Alto office.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated environments such as broker-dealers, trust companies, banks, or qualified custodians.
• Experience with permissioning, approval workflows, or multi-entity account structures.
• Design leadership experience during a transition toward a design-led organization.
