TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Marine Electromechanical Hardware): Designing and releasing production-ready mechanical hardware for SmartMast marine sensing systems with an accent on enclosures, mounting systems, cable integration, and harsh-environment reliability. Focus on developing hardware from concept through prototyping and production release, solving electromechanical integration issues, and improving manufacturability, serviceability, and field installation.

Location: Arlington, VA, United States. The role is primarily remote with occasional travel to vessel installations or manufacturing sites, while the listed location type is on-site.

Salary: $170,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

  • Design and release enclosures, mounts, brackets, interfaces, and vessel installation solutions.
  • Design hardware for sealing, corrosion resistance, vibration, serviceability, manufacturability, and assembly quality.
  • Own mechanical project work from concept and prototyping through testing and production release.
  • Collaborate with electrical, operations, manufacturing, suppliers, and remote partners to resolve integration issues and improve reliability.
  • Define and improve standards for cabling, connectorization, mounting, and field installation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience designing mechanical hardware for marine electronics, outdoor electronics, or harsh-environment electromechanical systems.
  • Strong CAD proficiency, preferably with Onshape, and the ability to create production-ready parts and assemblies.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, and field service.
  • Working knowledge of enclosures, cable routing, connectors, and hardware interfaces.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with remote teams, vendors, and manufacturing partners.
