Lead/Principal Cloud Engineer – Data Platform (Azure)

Location: Bad Homburg, Germany; hybrid work with two office days per week

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Octopus Deploy.
• Lead secure, multi-tenant Azure cloud environments, including customer data segregation and governance controls.
• Build repeatable infrastructure with Terraform and maintain Kubernetes environments for reliable deployments.
• Implement observability through logging, metrics, alerting, dashboards, and production operations aligned with SOC2 and SLA requirements.
• Develop automation tooling with Python, PowerShell, or C# to streamline build, test, release, and deployment workflows.
• Set shared technical standards, troubleshoot delivery and infrastructure issues, and mentor engineers across two data platform teams.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, platform engineering, or data platform delivery, preferably in finance-related environments.
• Practical experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and multi-tenant customer data segregation.
• Strong Microsoft Azure experience across networking, security, identity and access management, and governance.
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience; familiarity with Bicep or ARM templates is beneficial.
• Experience with Kubernetes or AKS, containerization, monitoring, and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or Grafana.
• English-language application required, with strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Python and SQL scripting in data platform or data engineering contexts.
• Experience with data pipelines, orchestration, processing workflows, developer feedback cycles, and self-service automation.
• Finance or risk business knowledge.
• Practical experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot for engineering workflows.
