Accounting Analyst, Ceded Close & Regulatory (Reinsurance)

Location: Richmond, VA, United States. US work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $62,400–$107,250 annually, with possible eligibility for the annual incentive plan.

What you will do

• Manage the accuracy and completeness of monthly reinsurance cessions, including system-generated and manually booked transactions.
• Perform monthly and quarterly accounting activities, complex reinsurance calculations, general ledger entries, close support, and reporting.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial reporting packages while resolving identified issues.
• Maintain SOX controls, follow accounting procedures, and support internal and external audits.
• Work with Reinsurance Operations, Ceded Re, Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, IT, and Finance teams to resolve issues and meet business goals.
• Lead or support system enhancements, integrations, testing, data pulls, reporting requests, and process improvement projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel proficiency.
• Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently under tight deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• US work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not provided now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Insurance or reinsurance industry experience.
• Experience with Oracle and Smart View.
• Experience with Alteryx, Power BI, and SQL.
• Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Claude.
