Senior Accountant & Captive Manager (Captive Insurance)

Location: Remote - USA

Salary: $110,000–$120,000 annual

What you will do

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of captive insurance companies, including general ledgers, reconciliations, cash, investments, and intercompany transactions.
• Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reports under GAAP, SAP, and modified GAAP.
• Prepare premium tax returns, NAIC Blank Forms, and other domicile-specific regulatory filings.
• Lead audit preparation and coordinate information exchange with auditors, actuaries, tax advisors, regulators, investment managers, and bankers.
• Act as the primary accounting contact for captive clients, present financial results, and explain complex accounting matters to non-technical audiences.
• Improve accounting processes, controls, system documentation, and reporting consistency across the Captive Practice.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in captive insurance, insurance, or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and insurance accounting principles.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and client service skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and enterprise accounting systems.

Nice to have

• CPA designation.
• Experience with captive insurance companies and multiple regulatory domiciles.
