Java Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Strada Costache Negri, Bucharest, Romania; hybrid work with one day per week in the office.

What you will do

• Participate in design reviews, estimate implementation effort, and design application components based on business and functional requirements.
• Write clean, efficient, well-structured Java code focused on stability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using modern testing frameworks.
• Support applications by troubleshooting issues, fixing bugs, and addressing production incidents.
• Create builds, deployment baselines, deployment notes, and operating instructions.
• Work with financial experts to discuss solutions and integrate business requirements.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience with Java, including modern Java versions from 8 to 25.
• Experience with Spring or Spring Boot, Spring Data or Hibernate, and RESTful services.
• Experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL databases and familiarity with Redis.
• Proficiency with Docker and containerization, plus understanding of Kubernetes deployments.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and Schema Registry.
• Advanced English skills and a proactive, collaborative, curious approach to continuous learning.

Nice to have

• Enterprise AI usage experience.
• Experience with Kafka Streams, WebSockets, Solr, Istio, or similar service-mesh technologies.
• Knowledge of publish/subscribe client-server architectures.
