Senior Software Engineer I (Kafka)

Location: New York City, United States

Salary: $140,400–$232,200 per year for candidates based in the United States; expected OTE of $156,000–$258,000 per year, including bonus or commission.

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and evolve Currents, a large-scale data export system.
• Develop and operate a Kafka-based event pipeline processing tens of billions of messages daily.
• Enable near-real-time customer analysis of user behavior.
• Bring software projects from concept through production.
• Improve high-scale distributed systems and collaborate closely with a skilled engineering team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-stack development experience.
• Experience building foundational systems at scale and leading software projects with significant organizational impact.
• Experience with Kafka at scale or comparable technology.
• Professional experience with distributed systems and/or microservices.
• Ability to mentor engineers and work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and self-directed working skills.

Nice to have

• Professional experience with Java, Kotlin, Confluent, or React.
