Goods Inwards Inspector (Aerospace)

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, UK. Full-time onsite role with possible travel to suppliers for source inspection. Candidates must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and successfully complete the required level of UK National Security Vetting.

What you will do

• Inspect incoming materials, components, and assemblies using dimensional, visual, and documentation checks.
• Verify Certificates of Conformance, material certifications, test reports, FAIRs, and traceability records.
• Use verniers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM outputs, and other calibrated inspection equipment.
• Identify, segregate, document, and report non-conforming materials through NCRs.
• Maintain inspection records and calibrated-tool controls for audit readiness and traceability.
• Work with Quality, Supply Chain, Production, Purchasing, and suppliers to resolve issues and improve the Goods Inwards process.

Requirements

• Experience in quality, inspection, or goods inwards within aerospace, defence, or precision engineering.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, specifications, and material standards.
• Knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace documentation requirements, including CoC, FAIR, and traceability.
• Competence with mechanical inspection tools and gauges, plus strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
• IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems, with strong cross-functional communication skills.
• Right to work in the UK without restrictions and successful completion of the required UK National Security Vetting.

Nice to have

• Quality inspection training or certification such as IPC or AS9102.
• Experience in regulated industries including aerospace, defence, or medical.
• Knowledge of lean principles, 5S, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methods.
• Experience interpreting CMM data.
