Associate Engineer (R&D)

Location: Benicarló, Spain; up to 10% travel to global capsule manufacturing sites, pilot facilities, and external toll manufacturers.

What you will do

• Execute laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing-support trials for fragrance delivery technologies.
• Support process scale-up from bench to pilot and production scale, including preparation, sampling, data capture, and post-trial analysis.
• Collect and analyze process conditions, yields, quality indicators, material balances, and trial observations.
• Prepare technical summaries, trial reports, batch records, operating procedures, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, process safety reviews, and risk assessments.
• Support technology transfer to internal manufacturing sites and external toll manufacturers, including on-site trial support when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Typically 0–3 years of industrial, manufacturing, pilot plant, internship, research, or experimental experience.
• Basic understanding of chemical process operations, unit operations, pilot-scale experimentation, and data interpretation.
• Ability to work safely in laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing environments with strong operational discipline.
• Clear technical communication skills and the ability to work in multidisciplinary, international teams.
• Fluent English is required for communicating technical concepts and results across stakeholder groups.

Nice to have

• Experience in chemical, fragrance, flavor, food, pharmaceutical, consumer products, specialty materials, or related manufacturing environments.
• Exposure to process scale-up, pilot plant operations, process validation, batch manufacturing, or technology transfer.
• Knowledge of data analysis tools, statistical thinking, or digital tools applied to process development.
• Interest in encapsulation, microencapsulation, controlled release, or fragrance delivery technologies.
