Project Engineer II - Protection

Location: Madrid, Spain

Develops and delivers electric power protection, automation, control, communication, and engineering solutions.

What you will do

• Apply electric power system protection knowledge and SEL products to complete complex engineering assignments.
• Lead customer training and support for the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of protection and automation systems.
• Assign, complete, and implement work within agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
• Support the preparation and presentation of proposals for equipment, services, and systems.
• Mentor and develop professional staff and supervise work when required.
• Travel domestically and internationally at least 25% based on the focus area.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant application experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and protection practices.
• Knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration, automation, communications, system design, studies, and protective relay applications.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills, with the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Satisfactory background check and negative drug test results.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification.
• Experience in an electrical utility, industrial plant, consulting engineering, or system integrator environment.
• Project management experience and working knowledge of Vision or similar project-tracking software.
• Experience with protective relay settings and testing, industrial protocols, SCADA, networking, security, or power system studies using PSSE, ETAP, or RTDS.
