Pre-Si Power and Performance System Validation Engineer (SoC)

Location: On-site in the United States, with primary location in Austin, Texas; additional locations in Folsom and Santa Clara, California, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

Annual salary: $122,440–$232,190 USD.

What you will do

• Develop and execute SoC-level power, thermal, and performance validation and optimization plans.
• Collaborate with architecture, design, firmware, software, verification, and platform teams to meet product targets and specifications.
• Validate hardware and software optimizations and align results with business KPIs.
• Debug SoC-level power, thermal, performance, functional, and triage failures and identify root causes.
• Configure data loggers, analyze thermal data, and maintain performance monitors, behavioral checkers, and testing environments.
• Prepare validation reports and drive improvements to validation methodologies and infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in SoC power and performance validation, pre-silicon simulation and emulation, and power/performance KPI development or optimization.
• At least 2 years of experience debugging SoC-level power, thermal, and performance failures and working with hardware/software optimizations.
• Experience with silicon verification, test program development, test plan execution, and Python programming.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work on-site in the United States.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD degree and experience with SoC FPGA or emulation functions.
• Experience with JTAG debugging, pre-silicon functional design, hardware/firmware/software integration, and major pre-silicon platforms.
• Knowledge of DSP, Ethernet, 3G/4G/5G, MIPI M-PHY, DDR, PCIe, USB, and SPMI protocols.
• Experience with system-level power management, performance modeling, benchmarking, data loggers, behavioral checkers, and state-space coverage.
• Knowledge of AI accelerator systems, including GFX, NPU, and NPP architectures, plus experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and system board debugging.
