Security Engineer (Linux Systems Engineer)

Location: Hybrid, with work at offices in Vienna, Virginia; Pensacola, Florida; or Winchester, Virginia. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship. Core hours are 7:00 AM-6:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday.

Salary: $99,400-$155,850 annually.

What you will do

• Maintain, troubleshoot, patch, upgrade, and harden Linux and Windows servers and enterprise security applications.
• Deploy, configure, optimize, and maintain on-premises, SaaS, and IaaS security applications.
• Remediate vulnerabilities and monitor the stability and sustainability of supported platforms.
• Deploy AI, agentic, and ML/LLM solutions to address modern security threats.
• Manage TLS certificate renewals, audit and hardening requests, access reviews, documentation, and operational ticket queues.
• Participate in incident response, daily operations briefings, and on-call or after-hours rotations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
• Extensive experience automating server configurations and deployments, and patching or upgrading Linux and Windows operating systems, packages, and applications.
• Experience with high-security enterprise systems engineering, security hardening, and vulnerability remediation.
• Experience scripting with Ansible, Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, or a similar technology.
• Experience with SSO, SAML, OAuth, SIEM integrations, enterprise infrastructure processes, and Kanban workflows.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with cybersecurity applications and clustered Java/Tomcat or .NET/IIS applications.
• Experience with physical or virtual appliances, packet capture analysis, Jira, and Confluence.
