Security Automation and Orchestration Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Onsite in Columbus, Ohio, or another hirify.global corporate office location

Salary: $70,000–$140,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for applicable incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Design and implement automation for threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and other security operations.
• Develop and maintain SOAR playbooks using platforms such as Splunk SOAR, Palo Alto XSOAR, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Build scalable automation frameworks and integrate SIEM, EDR, firewall, and IAM tools into automated workflows.
• Automate compliance checks and reporting for NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
• Embed security automation into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with cybersecurity, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
• Lead efforts to reduce manual monitoring, alert triage, and remediation work; mentor junior engineers and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production support and IT automation experience.
• 5+ years of operational experience with security technologies or relevant technical automation environments.
• 5+ years of experience implementing or using technology lifecycles and best practices.
• Bachelor's degree or 4+ additional years of equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, network troubleshooting, cybersecurity principles, threat landscapes, and incident response.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash, with experience designing automation solutions across enterprise environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud security automation across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Expertise with packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark and TCPdump.
• Experience evaluating security hardware, software, and tools for enterprise environments.
• Excellent written and verbal customer-facing communication skills.
